Titan from the top. By Dave Webb. The story of the dig 1999-2003 in the Peak- Speedwell system in Derbyshire. Digging from the bottom of a 35m boulder choke, they entered a vast cavern that stretched upwards out of reach of even the brightest lights. Topping out at a staggering 145 metres, Titan is the largest enclosed underground space in the UK. To enable a dry route to the dig a 40m shaft was sunk from the surface, and the film’s dramatic sequences vividly illustrate the ups and downs of cave digging.
