EN12492 + UIAA + CE WARNING To obtain maximum protection from your helmet, clearance between headcradle and shell must not be reduced by modification, insertion of Mars Bar or Survival Bag etc. SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING HELMET STANDARDS. There is no legal requirement for an individual caver to wear a helmet that complies with any specific standard, and personal choice dictates the headwear purchased or worn. The UIAA standard was developed for mountaineering and is not a caving standard. It is wrong to assume any helmet with a standard is suitable for caving. LAMP BRACKETS. A lamp bracket can be fitted to most helmets without compromising the strength of the helmet shell, however when a helmet is modified after manufacture, (i.e. by drilling the shell or fitting a lamp bracket) the CE, UIAA, Industrial or other standard is cancelled. If you need a lamp bracket but don't want to drill your helmet, Caving Supplies manufacture a firm fitting headband with lamp bracket attached, see product code 13340. N.B. Industrial users may have a legal requirement to wear protective headwear that meets a specific standard and such headwear should be purchased and worn accordingly |
